Bio
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

I'm an extrovert, a computer programmer, a graphic artist, web designer, web programmer (there is a difference), writer (published), avid reader, video game addict, recovering alcoholic/addict/gambler, social butterfly, ordained Progressive Christian Minister, and a whole host of other things. I tend to be sarcastic, loving, kind, giving, independent, protective of friends, and totally devoted.

I'm crazy about the 1st amendment, music, good Real Time Strategy Games, good Role Playing Games (both the computer kind and the pen and paper variety), the card game Spades, My MacBook (even though I used to hate Macs, lol), Poker(though I can't play anymore), Mathematics(especially abstract math), Participatory Economics, good writing, great poetry, honesty, computers, Ruby on Rails, Python, C++, free food, The Creative Commons License, The Academic Free License, The Cantos of Ezra Pound, and my friends.

I'm not so fond of lying, bad writing, mediocre poetry, television(the opiate of the masses, though I do like Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Futurama), bad movies, best selling authors(to become one you have to write to the lowest common denominator), Oprah's book club, Microsoft bloatware(though I am impressed with snapdragon and photosynth), vaporware, the GPL(GNU Public License, also known as the General Public Virus), Software without Source Code (though I love Photoshop and Dreamweaver, but they're just too good not to use), and things that are offensively cute (you know, like the smurfs, or dancing hamsters).

The type of people I like talking to are artists, writers, readers, and computer geeks. I tend to be obnoxious about literature, though, so be careful in that territory. I'm no expert, but I do know good literature. I'm an old sci-fi junkie, but I don't read most new sci-fi or fantasy (I make exceptions for Tim Powers, Neil Gaiman, Connie Willis, and China Mieville). I miss good Cyberpunk. There are no more Philip K. Dicks in the world.

I would love to discuss web technologies with people. Would also love to learn more about art history(I know very little). Python programmers are always cool to talk to. So are math nuts. I love talking to artists, writers, and programmers about current projects.

Of course, general chit chat is also fun. I used to be a political blogger for a site that gets a lot of hits. So I'll talk politics until I'm blue in the face. I also used to write articles about and for Pen and Paper RPG's, so if you're into those, I'd love to chat with you. I have a love of linguistics, and can read Latin and New Testament Greek, though I can't speak them. (I learned them, along with hieroglyph, hieratic and coptic as a kid. I don't remember the last three very well, though. Lack of use). Also took 3 years of Spanish in high school. Lack of use has atrophied it, but it comes back after a time around Spanish speakers.

Say Hi. :-D

Heroes: Heroes: Joseph Campbell(Mythologist and Author), Will Wright(Video Game Designer), Guido Von Rossum(inventor of the Python Programming Language), and my best friend Jim(a poet, nomad, and all around pain in the arse).
