The Jack Project (2)

Me
On December 1st, 2000, my best friend, Jack, died. Every year, without fail, starting around September, and progressing through December 12th (Jack's Birthday), I get more and more depressed. Some years, I'm totally non-functional. Others, I plod through the world like it's filled with rapidly setting cement. Last year, I decided to try blogging my feelings about Jack in a blog called "The Jack Project." I started out good, but by November, I had stopped. I just couldn't do it anymore. So, I'm trying again. The Jack Project is reborn.

Set up wordpress, and I'm going to try to write as often as I can. I can't guarantee this will work for me, but I have to try again. My therapist last year thought it was a good idea. I don't have one yet now that I've moved, but I have an appointment in early September, so I should be set. PTSD+depression=Joe's epic fail.

I've had enough.

Just randomly venting.  Trying to get ImageMagick and the RMagick ruby gem installed on my Mac.  What a pain in the arse.  UGH.  I think I found a solution that involves installing about a dozen support libraries automatically using a ruby script.  It's running now.  Got my fingers crossed.

*sigh*  Sometimes, I wish I was running Linux on a daily basis on something other than my web server.  Bleh.  Oh well, maybe the next PC I buy (I do have SUSE and Ubuntu Studio running in virtualization on the Mac, but I don't like to do development work in virtualization.)

I look like I lost a boxing match (and actually I did yesterday, to [info]crazyed89, but it was Wii sports, not real boxing. Hehe) In fact, I wasn't in a fight at all except for a fight with an infection. I've got cellulitis.

Doc basically said: "Did this happen fast or slow".

I said "Real fast."

He wiped his brow. "Oh, it's an infectious process then. If it had been slow, I'd have told you were screwed. Cancer for sure. But this is definitely just an infection."

"Thank God."

"Yeah, I'm prescribing a real good antibiotic. If we see no improvement in a few days (2), I'm gonna have to get you in the hospital for intravenous antibiotics."

"Oh, why."

"Cause this can cause a system wide infection that would probably kill you."

Oh joy.

Scary picture after the cut )

Can't sleep. Tooth hurts. While waiting for the tylenol to kick in, ran across this. Anyone who installs this on another users machine should be eligible for the death penalty.
